Gregoriaans festival 2023: Ensemble Discantus

Een openingsconcert met muziek uit de begintijd van de bouw van kathedralen.

Werken van Pierre Abelard, Adam de Saint Victor en veel anoniem gebleven componisten.

Stemmen met karakter en een groepsgeluid dat de som der delen overstijgt: dat is het handelsmerk van Discantus, een vocaal ensemble van zes tot negen zangers dat begin jaren ’90 werd opgericht door Brigitte Lesne. Historisch onderzoek en eigen transcripties staan in het hart van de muziekpraktijk van dit ensemble. De formatie focuste aanvankelijk op vroegmiddeleeuwse polyfonie, maar inmiddels brengt het ook repertoire uit de vroege renaissance. Sinds de eeuwwisseling hebben de musici een set handbellen als geluidssignatuur aan hun ensemble toegevoegd.
