Marietta Petkova (Roese, Bulgarije). studeerde aan de Muziek Academie te Sofia bij Lili Atanassova en Gina Tabakova. Daarna studeerde ze twee jaar aan de Hochschule für Musik in Wenen bij Paul Badura-Skoda,

Sinds 1990 woont zij in Amsterdam en studeert ze bij Jan Wijn aan het Sweelinck Conservatorium.
