Michael Attias' Renku

Renku, dat is een Japanse vorm van poëzie waarbij dichters op elkaar reageren en samen het gedicht maken.

Precies zoals in elke fatsoenlijke jazzimprovisatie, moet Michael Attias gedacht hebben. Of misschien dacht Satoshi Takeishi het wel, de Japanse drummer van het combo. In het titelnummer Renku komt hij uitgebreid aan het woord. In elk geval trakteren de heren ons op een degelijk mopje moderne bebopachtige jazz, met acht eigen composities en een stukje Monk aan het slot. Niet Japans, wel heel erg de moeite waard.
