Pocket Concerts (29) - Jadi Peperzak Quartet

Coming to you from the studios of the Concertzender / World of Jazz: Pocket Concerts. Featuring this edition: Jadi Peperzak Quartet

The Jadi Peperzak Quartet is one of the most exciting emerging ensembles on the Dutch jazz scene. Led by guitarist and composer Jadi Peperzak, the international quartet combines lyrical melodies, rich harmonies and adventurous improvisation in a contemporary sound that draws inspiration from artists such as Pat Metheny, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Wayne Shorter, while remaining distinctly its own. Peperzak, winner of the prestigious Conservatorium Talent Award 2024, has quickly established himself as a remarkable new voice in European jazz.

At the heart of the quartet is a close musical friendship that has grown through years of performing together. Czech pianist Daniel Bulatkin brings a sophisticated harmonic language and a strong sense of interaction; Nepali bassist Sulav Maharjan anchors the group with a warm sound and inventive bass lines; and Dutch drummer Rafael Slors adds energy, colour and rhythmic imagination. Together, the four musicians create a dynamic ensemble in which composition and collective improvisation are equally important.

In 2026, the quartet released its debut album Amity, featuring seven original compositions by Peperzak. The music was shaped over two years of touring and live performances, resulting in a recording that captures the band’s natural chemistry, openness and adventurous spirit. Praised for its melodic clarity, energetic interplay and contemporary jazz aesthetic, Amity marks an impressive debut from a group that is rapidly gaining attention on stages and festivals across the Netherlands and beyond.
