During a residency at WORM/Klangendum studios, Gottenkieny created this soundscape as an auditory translation of selected disorders from the DSM-5. Her goal was to make underlying disturbed processes audible. For instance in the case of ADHD the composition translates the lack of focus, hyperactivity, and impulsivity into sound. In STOOR listeners experience the world through a neurodivergent filter: a world in which background noise swells into chaos and where repetitive or stretched sounds force a compelling focus. With this work Gottenkieny strives for greater understanding of the diversity in mental health.
